DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) -In senior care facilities, funeral homes, and at other post-tragedy gatherings across the nation, therapy dogs are spreading comfort and companionship that is important and meaningful.
Event Coordinator with Dignity Memorial, Tracy Thumann, and Honey Bea (a wonderful QC therapy dog) visit QCL to raise awareness of the great work these comfort creatures provide–especially in sad or stressful situations.
Honey Bea regularly greets guests and visitors at the Memorial Park Cemetery office and Cunnick-Collins Life Celebration Center. She also service as a “Comfort Dog” at the center plus Weerts Funeral Home and Runge Mortuary and Crematory where she is often requested by families for visitations, luncheons, and memorial celebrations.
There has been a huge increase in interest and appreciation in having comfort and therapy dogs present at nursing homes, schools, hospitals, and post-tragedies because of a canine’s innate ability to provide stress relief and raise spirits.
