NESHOBA COUNTY, Miss. (WTOK) – The Neshoba County Sheriff’s Office acted on a tip Monday, which led to the rescue of a group of abused and abandoned dogs in the western part of the county, near the Leake County line.
Deputies responded to 10241 Road 402, Philadelphia, and documented eight dogs that were restrained and tied to trees with large logging chains, had limited shelter, water and food.
Working with a local animal rescue and armed with a Neshoba County Justice Court order, Neshoba County Sheriff’s Office seized the dogs that were being “cruelly treated, neglected or abandoned.”
The NCSO said these dogs will receive medical treatment as well as nourishment. The defendant will have 5 days to request a hearing to determine if the owner can adequately provide for the animals.
