Honea Path Police Department arrested a woman who had nearly 30 dogs in horrific conditions at a property. Police say they responded to a call regarding animals at large on Blue Willow Circle. Upon arrival, they discovered nearly 30 dogs living in horrific conditions — several were confined in small enclosures, one was a deceased canine, two puppies and several others that roamed freely on the property and in the roadways surrounding it. This prompted an animal cruelty investigation that lasted late into the night.Thanks to the efforts of the Honea Path Police, Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, and PAWS, 13 dogs were seized overnight. Unfortunately, many dogs remained on the property, unable to be captured, according to Honea Path police Chief Chris Miller.Police then arrested Betty Ordonez of Greenville, South Carolina, who is facing the following charges.14 counts of ill-treatment of animals14 counts of failure to comply with DHEC regulation on vaccination of domestic animals1 count of failure to bury a deceased animal7 counts of dogs running at largeOrdonez is currently being held at the Anderson County Detention Center.”The conditions these dogs were living in are deplorable, and I must thank everyone for this joint effort to bring an outstanding resolution for these animals,” Miller said.
