Dogs Will Help Boost Worcester Library’s 2024 Summer Reading Program

WORCESTER, MA — Participating in the Worcester Public Library’s summer reading program this year will come with some unique rewards.

No, not just prizes. Dog treats.

The library will kick off summer reading for adults and young people at an event at the main library on Saturday. Participants can log the books they read throughout the summer to become eligible for prizes.

The library will also host a series of events featuring dogs, including de-stress sessions, story times featuring dogs and meetings with service dogs.

WPL will host a series of events this month to get summer reading started. After the main event Saturday at the downtown library, events will happen at branches as follows:

  • Roosevelt Branch: June 17, 4 – 5 p.m.
  • Burncoat Branch: June 18, 4 – 5 p.m.
  • Great Brook Valley and Goddard Branches: June 20, 3 – 5 p.m.
  • Tatnuck Magnet Branch: June 21, 4 – 5 p.m.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
