Woman can’t find dog, can’t cope with what he’s doing: “project manager”

A devoted dog has stolen the hearts of internet viewers for acting as his dad’s unofficial assistant during a bathroom renovation.

The sweet pooch belongs to TikTok user @kimmyjslice10315, who shared footage of the pup’s newfound fascination. When the owner couldn’t find her furry friend, she was surprised to discover him sitting eagerly by his dad’s side, observing the bathroom renovations with unwavering attention.

“Looking for our dog. She has been watching my husband renovate the bathroom. I even caught him talking to her,” the owner wrote, with these words overlaying the touching scene that garnered more than 210,000 likes and almost 1 million views.

The dog, a lovable poodle-Labrador retriever mix, sits intently, his eyes following every detail as his dad works. It is as if he is studying the art of home improvement, absorbing each step of the construction process with genuine interest. At one point, her husband pauses to chat with his attentive helper.

“There. That’s it right there. So whatever we gotta do there, man, is how it’s gotta stay,” the husband says, turning to his pet for support. The pup listens with unwavering focus, as if offering his silent approval from the doorway. When the pup’s mom appears, he greets her with a joyful wag of his tail, clearly proud of his role in the project.

Though the dog in the video was enthusiastic about the home renovation, some pooches find the disruption anxiety inducing.

The Sniff website says that, to help dogs cope with home renovations, owners can create a designated safe space away from the noise and activity; maintain their daily routine; and provide distractions such as puzzle toys.

If homeowners have employed workers, regular introductions can build familiarity and reduce anxiety.

Using white noise or ear-muffling accessories can help dampen the sound, and if possible, consider taking your dog to day care or a friend’s home for breaks from the activity.

The video’s viewers couldn’t get enough of this adorable interaction, writing about their own heartwarming stories and thoughts. “Project manager,” posted one viewer.

“I’m convinced some dogs are genuinely fascinated with our behavior when we do stuff like renovation or just stuff out of the routine,” another commented, reflecting on their own pets’ curiosity.

A third viewer saw the helper’s spirit in the dog, saying: “She looked at you like ‘I’m helping’.”

A fourth shared a similar experience: “Our Labrador Hank has supervised every home improvement project since puppyhood. He’s 11 now and we refer to him as Foreman Hankie.”

A viewer named Dina expressed the pride she sensed in the pup: “She’s very proud to be involved, and the tail wag when she sees you is confirming, hey, look what we’re doing!”

And of course, the pup earned plenty of job titles from fans. “What a good supervisor,” one viewer said, perfectly summing up the dog’s role.
