A dog was shot in Providence on Saturday night.
The incident happened in the Washington Park area of the city.

About Shooting
Police responded to Washington Avenue shortly before 7 PM on Saturday for a report of shots fired.
Officers were informed that multiple gunshots were heard – as well as screaming.
When police arrived, a man was with his dog — a Pitbull — who had been shot in the leg.
The man told police he had been walking his dog when two men approached him, before one pulled out a pistol and opened fire, at which time the dog was hit.
The suspects reportedly then fled the scene on foot.
The dog was taken to veterinary specialists for surgery.
Detectives are currently investigating.
