Independence 3-year-old seriously injured in dog mauling

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A three-year-old girl is hospitalized after she was seriously injured in a dog mauling Tuesday morning.

The attack happened shortly after 10 a.m. near East R.D. Mize Road and South Ringo Road in Independence.

Independence paramedics responded to the area and found the dog in a kennel. It is now in the custody of Animal Control officers.

The child sustained a cut to her neck and other injuries, according to the Independence Fire Department.

The mauling is under attack by the Independence Police Department.
