MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – The Myrtle Beach International Airport family is mourning the passing of one of the dogs in its therapy dog program.
MYR took to social media on Friday to announce the passing of Rory, who spent over two years as a member of the Pups Easing Travel Stress program.
“Rory was an absolute gem who made friends with everyone he met,” MYR stated in a Facebook post. “…We will miss him dearly and all of the smiles he brought to travelers.”
Rory’s handler and owner, Tim, a retired MYR fire captain, is now adopting a 4-year-old golden named Miles.
Tim is planning on bringing Miles for visits once he is certified.
“We know he will continue in Rory’s pawprints, and we’re happy another dog in need now has a home,” MYR’s post reads.

Officials at MYR are asking people to send condolences to Tim and his family.
The Pups Easing Travel Stress program consists of certified pet therapy dogs and their volunteer handlers who are affiliated with the Alliance of Therapy Dogs, a national therapy dog registry with more than 15,000 members in the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico.
