SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WICS) — Dogs of all shapes and sizes are encouraged to dress up, grab their leashes and their humans and join Animal Protective League (APL) at Springfield’s only Halloween Party for dogs: Boo Bark Party at the Park, sponsored by Bank of Springfield.
The event is Saturday October 19, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Stuart Park, located at 1800 Winch Ln.
Admission to the entire event is $3 for one dog and $5 for two dogs with all the proceeds going to benefit the animals in APL’s care.
Boo Bark in the Park will feature a variety of activities for the dogs including:
- Pet Costume Contest sponsored by R. Watts Electric, Inc. The contest costs $2 per dog and will take place at 1:30 (signup by 1 p.m.) with prizes awarded for Best Costume Overall, Funniest, and Most Creative.
- PAW-casso booth where dogs can release their inner creativity with paw painting for a fee. Small sized paintings for $3, medium for $5, and large for $10.
- Kids Zone with games and activities with fun games for all ages sponsored by Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers.
- Pumpkin Painting for kids provided by Wolf Creek Farm.
For the safety of all attendees:
- All dogs must be well behaved and comfortable in large crowds of people and other animals
- All dogs MUST be on a leash (preferably non-retractable leashes)
- No puppies under 6 months of age
- No more than 2 dogs per person
- All dogs must be healthy to the best of the owner’s knowledge, be current on all shots and have proof of a current rabies vaccine.
