EPHRATA – A 67-year-old woman from rural Ephrata was hospitalized on Tuesday morning after being attacked by six dogs.
The incident occurred around 7 a.m. in the 8000 block of Road 10-Northwest, where the victim’s cries for help were heard by a nearby neighbor. Upon hearing the screams, the neighbor intervened and, once the attack ceased, drove the woman back to her home.
Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene and began treating the woman for her extensive injuries. She was then transported to Columbia Basin Hospital in Ephrata for further medical care. The current status of her condition remains unknown.
The owner of the dogs, who lives nearby, surrendered the animals to the Sheriff’s Animal Control Officers. The six dogs have been identified as either pitbulls or pitbull-mix breeds and are currently being held at Grant County Animal Outreach for a 10-day observation period.
