QUINCY, Ill. (KHQA) — One of the Tri-state’s largest dog walk events celebrated 30 years on Saturday morning.
The theme this year was Red, White, and Paws, and this is one of the Quincy Humane Society’s biggest fundraisers.
The Mutt Strut welcomed roughly 100 different dogs to South Park, according to organizers.
Events included, of course, the 1-mile stroll through the park, as well as different contests and vendors available.
Pilar Brumbaugh, Executive Director of the Humane Society says she is so excited to have been included in the anniversary.
“What an honor to be a part of the 30th anniversary,” Brumbaugh exclaimed. “When you think about when this event first started, how far it’s come with the community support from our different sponsors, volunteers, and to the coming every year, it’s just amazing.”
She also shares her favorite part when there’s anticipation in the air of setting up and wondering who will be coming out.
“My favorite part is when you see an animal that was just at the shelter and they’ve been adopted, and they come with their family,” Brumbaugh said. “That is a total full-circle moment, and ugh- it gives me all the feels! It’s awesome, you have dogs that have been adopted for 8-plus years, you have dogs that weren’t adopted from us that just want to give back and support the local Humane Society.”
