Hysterics over mustache dog looking like a “liberal arts school” graduate

A dog’s accidental transformation into a “liberal arts school graduate” has left viewers online in stitches.

Indiana the dog, who is of an unknown mixture of breeds, was captured wearing a “mustache” after his owners jokingly twisted his long facial hairs upward to resemble the defined mustache trends of the past that often creep back into style.

The lighthearted post has been viewed more than 1.1 million times since it was shared to TikTok by Indiana’s owner, who known online by her first name Lauren, on September 17. The video has also welcomed an abundance of hilarious comments by amused viewers.

TikTok users were able to see the male dog, who is based in Calgary, Alberta, in Canada, showing off his playful new look with a mildly perplexed expression on his face. His owner, Lauren, poked fun at her canine’s new blonde “mustache,” which stands out from his dark fur, in the post’s caption.

“He looks like he recently graduated from liberal arts school and has converted to veganism,” Lauren, who goes by @definitely_laur on the platform, said.

Viewers online have chimed in with the owner’s banter, adding their own amusing takes on the dog’s new look in the comments section of the post.

Viewers are split between whether Indiana has ended up resembling a 19th-century nobleman; a contemporary arts student; or a millennial dressed in lumberjack clothing with an interest in craft beer. The post has been liked more than 150,000 times since it was shared online, and has amassed almost 3,000 comments, many of which debate the dog’s temporary aesthetic.

“He looks wise and old,” one viewer, @w12aam, posted of Indiana.

Another, @carodo, added: “What is his best craft beer recommendation?”

“Look at this distinguished gentleman,” a third viewer, known on TikTok as Michelle Marie, commented.

One user, @jeffyankey256, added: “I say what in tarnation are you laughing at.”

“Good day to you my good sir-in British accent,” another, @pyesaonlineph, added.

“He looks like he just passed his bar exam,” a third, @_yoruichi_84_shihouin_, posted.

“He looks like he is the one giving you guys lectures about life,” @nrw9955 commented.

“Pupper looks as if he speaks conversational French and makes jam at the weekends,” another viewer, @high.flying.bubble, said.

Newsweek reached out to @definitely_laur for more information via TikTok. Lauren regularly shares updates about Indiana to her TikTok account.
