SANIBEL ISLAND, Fla. (WWSB) – The United States Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater conducted a heroic rescue during Hurricane Helene, and the operation was captured on video.
Rescuers saved the man off the coast of Sanibel Island during Hurricane Helene after his 36-ft sailboat became disabled and started taking on water.
Crews were able to save the man and his dog buy airlifting them out of the scene. They are both in good condition.
The vessel, at last check, was adrift and disabled.
