A transient Cape Coral man faces animal cruelty charges after authorities say he forcefully kicked a dog the same day he was released from the Lee County Jail on fraud and theft charges.
Ry’Quell Bell, 20, faces one count of misdemeanor animal cruelty.
Around 9:10 p.m. Tuesday, Cape Coral police officers responded to an apartment on Steeple Circle, where a resident reported they had video recordings of Bell abusing two dogs.
Police said one video showed Bell letting the dogs into an apartment before he kicked a dog. The dog fell on its side and yelped and cried.
Another video showed Bell letting the dogs out of an apartment and then hitting one with a bottle. That dog, too, was heard yelping, police said.
Police said their investigation revealed Bell did not own the dogs. Police said the dogs were left in the care of their owner.

Bell had just been released from the Lee County Jail on Tuesday afternoon for robbery and theft charges.
Bell’s arraignment is set for Oct. 15.
