Suede Handbags Are Having a Moment

Fashion’s idea of seasonality has shifted in the last few years. Leather is worn in the summer (see Bally and KNWLS most recent spring runway looks, clad with leather minis), boots are a year-round footwear option, and lightweight dresses, previously exclusive to the warmer months, can be easily layered for autumn. And while we’ve been noticing the onslaught of capri pants, sheer dresses, and rose motifs, there’s another season-less trend we can’t help but obsess over. Leather’s luxe, soft twin: suede. The best way to dip your toes in? With a suede handbag.

Suede handbags come in all shapes and sizes, and they transcend seasons. Another major reason for the suede revival is the industry’s infatuation with nostalgia and classic fabrics and styles. Quiet luxury isn’t showing any signs of slowing down — and suede handbags come in structured silhouettes, oversized carryalls, and mini iterations, just big enough for an evening out. There’s an option for everyone.

So, you’re looking for the best suede handbags?

The Oversize Ones

Sometimes, a bag that fits more than your phone is needed — add books, outfit changes, and a laptop, too. For weekends upstate and beyond, consider a suede bag on the opposite end of the micro mini-trend: an oversize, slouchy one.

I love this suede bag for its easy magnetic closure, adjustable strap, and roomy 14.5-inch width.

This suede bag from Staud features a 17-inch soft frame that can fit keys, a smartphone, iPad, and more.

Take this ludicrously capacious (suede) bag to the gym or even the office. that can be worn on the shoulder or on your hand for that chic, runway look.

The Minis

For evenings out and busy days that require less lugging, look to a mini suede handbag. Madewell’s comes in a bucket shape with an adjustable shoulder strap, while Loeffler Randall’s can be worn as a shoulder bag or clutch.

For those who’d rather indulge in faux suede, look no further. This cute little folded number from JW Pei has gold hardware, interior pockets, and an adjustable strap.

Savette Suede & Leather Bucket Bag

A Savette bag for 50 percent off is a great deal. We also love that despite its mini silhouette you can still fit the essentials like your keys, lipstick, phone, and wallet.

This bag is one of my favorites, and garners compliments every time it’s worn. Tuck in the straps to use it as an evening clutch.

The Trending Chocolate

We see you, internet. Chocolate is in, and it’s giving head-to-toe black and cream a run for its money. Designers like Loewe, Miu Miu, and The Row have continued to lean on the earthy color in their collections, but you don’t have to break the bank to embrace the rich hue. Zara, Reformation, and Banana Republic’s options look more expensive than they are.

Reformation’s slouchy leather tote comes with a magnetic closure, decorative tie detail, and several shades — including forest green and camel.

A bag that looks like a block of dark chocolate? Sign us up. Plus, the shoulder straps are long enough so you know you can wear it over your chunky fall and winter layers.

Available in both chocolate brown and black, J.Crew’s suede tote has a magnetic closure so you don’t have to worry about all your belongings being exposed. However, do note that the material might rub off on other fabrics. So, don’t wear your winter whites with this one.

The Budget-Breaking

We’ve spotted them, and we’ve yearned for them — and I blame Khaite for the overall obsession with slouchy suede. If you want to make a splashier investment, consider The Row’s soft suede tote or Metier’s roomy “Incognito Cabas” bag, ideal for work weeks.

The unstructured yet sculptural shape of the “Lotus” bag is inspired by the movement of a scarf. And boy, does it look good on everyone I’ve seen wear it.

You’ll always spot the Olsen twins’ penchant for clean lines and simplicity with their brand, The Row, and this minimalist suede bag is no different.

A classic tote bag, elevated by the label’s signature design and organizational features, is ideally sized for all your daily essentials.

The Totes

We’re all adults here, and adulting often requires a tote bag. But gone are the days of relying on cotton throwaway tote bags you received with another purchase. Slide your laptop, notebooks, iPad, and portable chargers into any of these sleek, suede commuter bags.

When my love for neutrals goes too far, this bag is the perfect pop of color. Two elongated shoulder straps makes it extra easy to toss on for casual days.

If Bella Hadid loves this bag, we do too. It’s triangular shape elevates the usual tote bag, and you still get the much-needed space for all your things.

Sling this over your shoulder for a effortless, off-duty look. Made in Spain, we’re obsessed with the subtle, logo embossed at face.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
