Dog finally gets his one wish, to join owner in the shower: “All he wanted”

A dog owner recently went viral on TikTok for finally giving in to her canine’s demand to join her in the shower, even though his reaction wasn’t what viewers might have expected.

TikTok user @jimenaamoreno was showering when her two dogs stood right outside the door, with one of them begging to come inside. She contemplated whether to let him in and ultimately decided she would. As soon as she opened the door, he excitedly hopped in.

He got his one and only wish, as the caption on the September 21 video reads: “It’s all he wanted.” But he seemed to have regretted the decision instantly.

In the clip, her dog is huddled in the corner as the water pours down on him. He doesn’t flinch or ask to leave. Instead, he accepts the consequences of his actions and continues to get wet.

While he looks upset about getting in the shower, the owner told Newsweek via TikTok that he constantly asks to come into the shower with her.

“He actually loves to shower and get baths,” she said. “Even if he doesn’t look happy, I promise he is.”

The TikTok clip became an instant hit, bringing in over 3 million views, 291,600 likes and 930 comments within three days of posting.

“He’s willing to suffer just to be with you. That’s love,” said one viewer.

“Omg the way the dog is just standing there under the water like it in a music video,” joked another.

Plenty of other pet parents shared that they too have found themselves letting their dog win. One person proudly wrote: “I give in all the time actually and I’m not ashamed.”

Frustration might brew when you’re trying to get a few minutes of peace in the shower and your dog follows right behind. Believe it or not, there is an explanation. An article in Canine Journal goes into the reasons behind this behavior.

Being a pack animal, dogs often view their owners as the leader and want to be with them at all hours of the day. That includes going to the bathroom. In their eyes, this activity puts you in a vulnerable position, and by following you to the bathroom, they believe they are protecting you.

Other dogs might follow you simply out of curiosity. They don’t want to miss out on anything exciting. Others could suffer from separation anxiety, or they’re known to be a “Velcro” dog breed. Or, perhaps, an owner unknowingly reinforced this behavior with positive associations, like petting or giving a treat.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
