Brighton, N.Y. — The Brighton Police Department hosted a tour Thursday for Guiding Eyes for the Blind.
12 future guide dogs, along with their trainers, were invited along for the tour.
Each dog explored police cruisers and went on a tour through the police department and town court. The initiative was to get the dogs as socialized as possible with emergency service providers.
The police department says this is essential for helping dogs get comfortable with unfamiliar environments.
Brighton police tell us the event is also an opportunity to build bonds between law enforcement and the community.
Guiding Eyes for the Blind is a non-profit organization that trains and provides guide dogs to people experiencing vision loss.
