The red-shaded dachshund named Douglas was caught off guard when his owner introduced a skeleton version of his breed to him for Halloween. The Instagram video, shared on September 10 by @douglas_the_dachshund_dog, has racked up over 270,000 likes, leaving viewers in fits of laughter at Douglas’s reaction to the spooky holiday decoration.
Viewers were able to see Douglas approaching and sniffing the toy skeleton suspiciously. His initial curiosity quickly turns into mild disdain as he backs away, clearly unamused by the eerie figure.
An overlaid text on the video read: “When mom has the audacity to get a dachshund skeleton for Halloween.”
The playful moment has resonated with pet owners and Halloween enthusiasts alike, showcasing the often hilarious reactions pets have to holiday decorations. Others have left amusing takes on Douglas’s shock and speculated why he may have been so taken aback by the object.

The Instagram user’s comment refers to Donald Trump‘s baseless claim that Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, have been eating residents’ pets.
