PORTLAND (WGME) – Despite finishing with the best record in the Northeast Division, the Portland Sea Dogs will miss out on the playoffs.
Saturday’s win against Binghamton set the stage Sunday for a chance at the postseason.
Down 1-0 in the top of the ninth, a brutal three-run homer for the Rumble Ponies dashed Portland’s hopes, as they lost 4-0.
The Sea Dogs topped the division in wins this year, but because they did not finish in first place in either the first or second half of the season, they did not qualify for the playoffs.
The team announced on social media that their 2025 season opens on April 8.
