KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A truck full of furry friends from Louisiana are waiting to be adopted.
Shelters there are trying to make room for animals displaced by Hurricane Francine.
Casey Waugh with Wayside Waifs said they received 28 dogs who rode up from New Orleans.
“Every animal needs a home,” Waugh said. “So, we took homeless pets and are bringing them up here, giving them the medical care they need, behavior care they need, and finding them forever homes in Kansas City.”
Waugh said they had a sale last weekend to make room for these dogs but emphasized when the call came in, they knew they had to help in some way, right away.

“We want to provide the best we can for these animals,” Waugh said. “Our hope and their hope is this opens space in their shelter allowing any displaced pets from the hurricane to go there and ultimately be reunited with their families.”
To find out when these dogs will be available, please check Wayside Waifs for updates.
“We have to make sure they get all the care and treatment they need before they’re up for adoption,” Waugh said.
