Support for organization that provides service dogs to veterans, first responders
SKYCAM NETWORK. AND WE’RE SITTING DOWN WITH AN ORGANIZATION FOCUSED ON PROVIDING SERVICE DOGS TO VETERANS. AND FIRST RESPONDERS STRUGGLING WITH PTSD. FOUNDER KEVIN IS HERE WITH WARHAWK PTSD SERVICE DOG. THANKS FOR COMING IN. THANKS FOR HAVING ME. AND WHO DO YOU HAVE HERE? THIS IS LACEY. ALL RIGHT. SHE’S KNOWN AS THE PEOPLE’S SERVICE DOG. SHE’S THE ONLY DOG THAT WE TRAINED TO INTERACT WITH THE PUBLIC SO WE CAN DEMONSTRATE WHAT WE DO. ABSOLUTELY. SO THEN TELL ME A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT YOUR ORGANIZATION. WHY YOU FOUNDED IT, AND WHAT WHAT YOU GUYS DO OVERALL. SURE. WELL, IT STARTED WITH ME, YOU KNOW, IN 2019. I WAS LOOKING FOR SOME ANSWERS AND I KNEW I NEEDED TO GET OFF MEDICATION. I NEEDED MORE THAN WHAT THE VA OR ANYONE ELSE COULD HELP ME WITH. AND A GENTLEMAN OUT OF PRYOR, OKLAHOMA GIFTED ME LACEY HERE IMMEDIATELY CHANGED MY LIFE. TWO WEEKS LATER, ONE OF MY BUDDIES KILLED HIMSELF AND I CALLED THAT MAN BACK AND ASKED HIM, HOW DO I DO WHAT YOU DID FOR ME? FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE. AND TODAY WE’RE IN 22 STATES WITH 56 DOGS, FULLY TRAINED. WOW. AND SO OFF THAT YOU HAVE A FUNDRAISER THAT’S COMING UP, THE SECOND ANNUAL FUNDRAISER. TELL ME MORE ABOUT THAT. I MEAN, HOW CAN PEOPLE GET INVOLVED AS WELL? YOU BET. WE’RE GOING TO BE AT BENSON THEATER. THEY CAN GO TO BENSON THEATER.ORG AND PURCHASE TICKETS. IT’S GOING TO BE NEXT THURSDAY THE 19TH AT 7 P.M. WE’RE GOING TO HAVE BRIAN LIGGETT. HE’S GOING TO OPEN AND NEBRASKA HALL OF FAMER JIMMY WEBER. HE’S A COUNTRY HALL OF FAMER. HE’S GOING TO BE CLOSING DOWN THE HOUSE. IT’S A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO COME IN AND SHOW YOUR SUPPORT. WE’LL HAVE A LOT OF DIFFERENT ITEMS THAT PEOPLE CAN SILENT AUCTION ON OR RAFFLE OFF. YOU KNOW, GREAT WAY TO JUST LEAN IN AND SUPPORT OUR ORGANIZATION. AND IT’S A GOOD TIME TOO. AND SO THEN THE FUNDRAISER, THE PROCEEDS THAT ARE RAISED, WHERE DOES IT GO? 100% OF IT GOES TO THE DOGS THAT ARE IN TRAINING. AND THE RECIPIENTS THAT WE’RE DELIVERING TO. THERE’S NOBODY THAT’S A PAID STAFF MEMBER IN MY ORGANIZATION. WE’RE ALL VOLUNTEERS. WE ALL WORK FULL TIME, AND WE DONATE 100% OF OUR TIME TO OUR ORGANIZATION. AND I MEAN A GOOD CAUSE HERE. GOOD ORGANIZATION. BUT WHY SHOULD PEOPLE SUPPORT YOU KNOW, IT’S A GREAT QUESTION. I BELIEVE THAT WORLD WAR TWO VETERANS ARE THE ONLY VETERANS THAT EVER SAW AN END TO THE TRAGEDIES THAT THEY SERVED THEIR COUNTRY FOR. I NEVER HAD A VICTORY DAY. I SERVED SEVEN YEARS IN THE MIDDLE EAST, THREE IN IRAQ AND FOUR IN AFGHANISTAN. I NEVER HAD A PARADE. I THOUGHT THAT MY COUNTRY FORGOT ABOUT ME. MY ORGANIZATION IS HERE TO LET VETERANS KNOW WE’VE NOT FORGOTTEN ABOUT YOU. WE KNOW THAT YOU’RE STILL NOT HOME YET. THEY MIGHT BE PHYSICALLY HOME, BUT THEIR MIND IS STILL AT WAR. AND SO THAT’S WHY WE EXIST. AND THAT’S WHY I HOPE PEOPLE WILL SUPPORT US. ABSOLUTELY. AND THEN POINT PEOPLE TO YOUR WEBSITE. WHERE DO WE GO TO FIND MORE INFORMATION? YOU BET. W WW DOT WARHAWK PTSD SERVICE DOGS.ORG. YOU CAN LOOK US UP ONLINE AT WARHAWK PTSD SERVICE DOGS ON FACEBOOK. WE’RE ON ALL THE SOCIALS, BUT FACEBOOK IS OUR BIGGEST ONE AND YOU CAN ALWAYS CALL OR TEXT AT (918) 815-6775.
