FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – A search for a Pee Dee woman resulted in a pair being arrested on unrelated charges on Thursday.
The Florence County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were searching for a woman who was reported missing in the area of East Main Street in Timmonsville. The woman, who has been safely located, was not at the scene.
However, the sheriff’s office said deputies found nine dogs allegedly chained to trees “with inadequate shelter or water.”
The dogs also appeared to have bite marks, scars and other injuries. The dogs were removed from the property by Florence Coutny Animal Control, with some requiring veterinary attention.
Susan Griggs and Dwayne Harris were arrested each charged with of ill-treatment of animals.
As of around 1:30 p.m. Friday, records show Griggs and Harris are being held at the Florence County Detention Center.
