My mom’s chili is perfect as a topping on a dog, Frito pie, chili mac or just as-is with sour cream and cheddar. In Texas, we all grew up eating Czech pastries called kolaches filled with sausage, ham and cheese. It’s the ideal breakfast paired with a coffee — and maybe even a doughnut. These dogs in a blanket resemble my favorite kolache: jalapeño, sausage and cheese.
Technique tip: Be sure to give yourself extra time to thaw the puff pastry and fully chill the dogs in a blanket before baking.
