HOOSICK FALLS, NY (WRGB) — Four dogs have been euthanized following an attack on a toddler Wednesday in Hoosick Falls.
Hoosick Falls Police were dispatched to Fourth Street in the Village of Hoosick Falls Wednesday for a dog bite. Investigation determined that a 2 year old had been attacked by four Rottweilers. The child was treated at the scene by the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad and a Cambridge Valley Rescue Squad Paramedic and was transported to Albany Medical Center for treatment.
The Rensselaer County Health Department made contact with the owners of the dogs and the owners chose to have the dogs euthanized and tested for rabies. The Hoosick Falls Police Department has been in consultation with the Rensselaer County District Attorney’s Office, Rensselaer County Health Department and Animal Control from the onset of the investigation and are continuing to investigate this incident.
Sergeant John Hudson Jr. said, “This is a very traumatic incident for the family and all those involved. Our thoughts are with the victim and we hope for a speedy recovery from this traumatic event.”
The investigation is currently ongoing.
