Few moments from Tuesday night’s presidential debate have had greater resonance than President Donald Trump’s claim that migrants in Springfield, Ohio, are eating pets. In a larger attack on Vice President Kamala Harris’s record, Trump said:
“And look at what’s happening to the towns all over the United States. And a lot of towns don’t want to talk — not going to be Aurora or Springfield. A lot of towns don’t want to talk about it because they’re so embarrassed by it. In Springfield, they’re eating the dogs. The people that came in. They’re eating the cats. They’re eating — they’re eating the pets of the people that live there. And this is what’s happening in our country. And it’s a shame.”
To which ABC News’s David Muir inserted himself, “I just want to clarify here, you bring up Springfield, Ohio. And ABC News did reach out to the city manager there. He told us there have been no credible reports of specific claims of pets being harmed, injured, or abused by individuals within the immigrant community.”
Muir and Trump then went back and forth on this issue for another minute, and it is true that there have been no verified reports of migrant pet eating in Springfield, Ohio, or any other Springfield in the country.
But violent Venezuelan gangs are terrorizing residents in Aurora, Colorado. That has been confirmed. And the Biden-Harris not only allowed those migrants in, they helped fund the apartment complex conquest.
Voters have turned sharply against immigration during the Biden-Harris border crisis, and it is not because of Fox News. Democrats and their media allies can pretend there are no costs from mass migration, but people know that there are.
Moving ahead in the debate, Trump was again attacking Kamala Harris, this time for her radical far-left positions:
“Fracking? She’s been against it for 12 years. Uh, defund the police. She’s been against that forever. She gave all that stuff up, very wrongly, very horribly. And everybody’s laughing at it, OK? They’re all laughing at it. She gave up at least 12 and probably 14 or 15 different policies. Like, she was big on defund the police.”
Kamala Harris then interrupted, “That’s not true.”
Trump continued, “In Minnesota, she went out — wait a minute. I’m talking now. If you don’t mind. Please. Does that sound familiar?”
Kamala Harris then said, “Don’t lie.”
Trump continued, “She did things that nobody would ever think of. Now she wants to do transgender operations on illegal aliens that are in prison. This is a radical left liberal that would do this.”
It is not in the transcript, but if you watch the clip, you can see Kamala Harris shaking her head and saying no.
But here is the thing: Trump was telling the truth.
Kamala Harris is a far-left radical who supported mandatory gun buybacks, freeing violent criminals without bail, and yes, taxpayer-funded transgender surgery for illegal immigrants in prison.
Those positions are who Kamala Harris is. And now she is lying about who she is. And voters know it.
Trump may be a liar. But he is what Dave Chappelle called in his 2022 Saturday Night Live monologue an “honest liar.”
Trump may get the details wrong about why illegal immigration is harming certain communities. But they are. And voters know it. And they don’t like it when Democrats like Harris try to lie to their faces about it.

Harris, however, is just a liar. And not just about mundane facts, but also about the very essence of who she is. She is completely inauthentic. She is deceit personified. And that is why her campaign won’t let her do solo interviews or press conferences. They are trying to maintain the lie that she is a centrist candidate.
She’s not. She’s dangerously liberal. And the longer this campaign lasts, the more voters will figure that out.
