Davina Corbin was attacked by dogs in the early morning hours of Aug. 8
A California mom was mauled to death by dogs on Aug. 8. Not far from where the incident occurred, 25 Great Danes were found running loose.
Davina Corbin, 56, was found dead on Blackhawk Trail in Feather Falls, Calif., around 1:58 a.m. according to the Butte County Sheriff’s Office. It is believed she was walking in the area when she was attacked, authorities say.
During her autopsy, “numerous bite marks and injuries” were found on Corbin’s body, leading the forensic pathologist to believe that her cause of death involved a dog attack.
Detectives obtained a search warrant for a home on Blackhawk Trail, and found 25 Great Dane dogs who were “running loose in the area.” The deputies and detectives “spent the entire day capturing the dogs”.
As of Aug. 10, 23 of the dogs had been captured and placed under the custody of animal control. Upon further investigation, the DNA found on Corbin’s clothing was consistent with domestic dog DNA.

Local news outlet KCRA reported on Aug. 15 that seven of the dogs — all adult Great Danes — believed to have been involved with Corbin’s death are being euthanized.
Per Butte County Public Health, the 18 Great Dane puppies will be put up for adoption. No criminal charges have been filed involving Corbin’s death.
Max Hecker, who lives in Feather Falls, told KCRA about the Great Danes, revealing that he and his neighbors have complained about the dogs in the past.
“Nothing’s been done about it until now,” he said. “Wait until somebody gets killed by those dogs. That’s a tragedy that should have never, ever have happened, ever.”
The Corbin family set up a GoFundMe to help cover funeral costs. ”Our mother, Davina Corbin, 56, of Feather Falls, California, was tragically taken from us after being attacked by dogs on August 8, 2024,” it states.
“We’re struggling to come to terms with this loss and need help saying goodbye.”
