An Atlantic County woman who was bitten by a dog claims responding New Jersey State Police troopers arrested her for unpaid parking tickets and took her to jail, where she was stripped searched and denied medical treatment, according to a recently filed lawsuit.

Julie Carty, 52, was walking along Unexpected Road in Buena Vista Township on Nov. 19, 2022, when the dog bit her on the leg, causing puncture wounds and lacerations, according to the lawsuit filed in June in Superior Court of Atlantic County.

She called police and responding troopers arrested Carty for outstanding traffic tickets and took her to the Atlantic County Jail, the lawsuit states.
