BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – A new policy goes into effect Thursday putting a tighter leash on dogs entering the United States.
Dogs entering the country from rabies-free or low-risk communities must meet new requirements. They must be at least 6 months or older, have a microchip to identify them, and the owners must complete a dog import from the Center for Disease Control.
These new steps are required following visits to countries like Canada.
