Five dogs found dead in Henry County, owner charged with animal cruelty

HENRY COUNTY, Ala. (WTVY) – Five dogs were found dead at a Henry County home last week, according to Henry County Sheriff Eric Blankenship.

Devone Edwards Tolbert, 26, was arrested on Wednesday, July 17. He is charged with five counts of aggravated animal cruelty.

Deputies with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office found the remains of the dogs in different states of decomposition on July 14, in the backyard of a rental property off Highway 431 near the Barbour County line.

Tolbert was taken to the Henry County Jail with a $75,000 bond. Blankenship tells News4 that Tolbert has posted bail.
