CHILLICOTHE— Those dealing with Alzheimer’s and dementia often face an uphill battle of forgetting the ones they loved as the disease progresses.
Patients at the Embassy of Valley View in Frankfort now have a new enrichment option in their lives.
Around 50 Pearl’s Memory Babies and Puppies made their way to the facility recently thanks to a grant that helped pay for the equipment. These dolls help residents as it gives them something to care for making them happy and feel useful.
Director of Social Services Charla Mathuews said the facility is excited to be able to offer this care to residents.
“We are so humbled to have received this gift,” said Mathuews.
Frankfort Mayor Patti Cavender joined the celebration and said the hearts of the community are full of gratitude and joy with these babies and pets.
Each resident received either a baby or a dog through this program. While handing them out staff and residents cried with joy with one lady holding her baby and repeatedly saying how beautiful it was. Other residents were excited to hold the animals and babies and give them names.
