PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. (WPDE) — This week’s pet of the week is 9-year-old Maverick from Salty Dogs Senior Rescue in Pawleys Island.
This Schipperke/Shepherd mix is friendly with people and other dogs and just hopes for affection and a lap to lay his head on.
Maverick’s life has not been easy up until now; he was surrendered to a shelter where he, along with others, contracted pneumonia.

This sweet dog was due to be euthanized because of his serious condition but he was saved minutes before his fate with the help of a wonderful foster in that area.
Following a hospital stay and some loving care, Maverick is now in the Grand Strand with a new foster mom.
He has recovered and is looking for a permanent family to live out the rest of his life with love and in peace.
