Canine flu cases temporarily close Montgomery Humane Society

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – The Montgomery Humane Society will be closed until Saturday due to canine flu cases.

The Humane Society says it has over 40 symptomatic dogs in the facility. Dogs in the adoption center will need to be placed in isolation and will not be available for adoption for 28 days. Adoptions of the exposed dogs will be halted for a period of four weeks.

MHS says it will take the next few days to isolate any exposed animals and disinfect other areas so new, emergent intakes can be housed safely and ethically.

Essential intakes will still be accepted during the temporary closure. Those intakes include sick and injured animals, and dogs that pose a threat to public safety.

Citizens who find a lost pet are asked not to take the animal to the shelter. Cat adoptions will resume Saturday as normal.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
