CYPRESS, Texas – A Cypress rescue is remembering seven dogs who were headed to their fur-ever home when the vehicle transporting them suddenly became engulfed in flames.

11 dogs, rescued, rehabilitated, and fostered from Cypress Lucky Mutt Rescue, were en route to New York with several stops to unite the dogs with their new, adopted families.
However, officials said the van caught fire in Illinois. Four were able to be rescued, but seven of them, tragically, did not survive. One dog, Guapo, also suffered burns and was hospitalized, but is expected to make a full recovery.

While it’s still unclear how the fire started, the rescue says the blaze was “fast and intense.”
Meanwhile, the three dogs that survived the fire have been safely united with their new adopted families.
