5 dead dogs found months later in foreclosed home, man arrested for animal cruelty

POSEY COUNTY, Ind. (WFIE) – A man has been arrested for multiple counts of animal cruelty and neglect after officials found 5 dead dogs in a foreclosed home.

The Posey County Sheriff’s Office says 21-year-old Ryver Barker abandoned the dogs at a foreclosed home he moved out of in the 7000 block of Briar Ridge Road of Wadesville.

Deputies say they were overwhelmed by the smell when they entered the home, and they had to use breathing apparatuses to search.

They say the dogs had been there since October 2024.

Barker was arrested for 8 counts of animal cruelty and animal neglect.

He has since bonded out.

Authorities say more arrests are possible as the situation is still under investigation.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
