A Sam’s Club employee was bitten by a dog on Wednesday, leading
to citations for the owner.
Rocky Mount Animal Control said a German Shepherd escaped
from its owner’s vehicle as the owner tried to give the animal some water. The
dog ran to the store entrance and bit an employee who was returning shopping
carts.
The employee was treated for an injury on the wrist.
The dog was restrained and returned to their owner’s
vehicle. The owner cooperated with responding officers.
The owner was cited for two city ordinance violations –
animal bite and animal running at large.
Rocky Mount Animal Services reminds all pet owners to take
necessary precautions to ensure their animals are securely contained at all
times.
