Man charged with dog fighting in Etowah County after 9 dogs removed from property

ETOWAH COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) – A 22-year-old man has been charged in Etowah County in the midst of an active animal abuse investigation.

Jakobe Borders was charged with dog fighting after investigators removed at least nine dogs from property off Highway 179 on Wednesday, June 11.

Borders was booked into the Etowah County Jail.

The Etowah County Animal Shelter director says the situation is concerning. She also says this case follows a recent investigation involving ten other dogs confiscated due to similar concerns.

The director says the case remains under investigation.
