
On Tuesday, dogs were active in empty structures around town. The patrol dogs, which are the ones that might bite, were working in the old Shopko building. Drug dogs were in the Brammer Building, where the Nez Perce County commissioners recently vacated for a move to the new courthouse. Bomb sniffers were at a building in the Orchards.
Organizers will move them to different locations as the week progresses. Dog handlers will receive 40 hours of training this week. That includes not just live-action drills with dogs, but also updates on case law among other important professional information.
Friday culminates with a competition in the areas of detection and apprehension. Conference registration was Sunday and runs to Friday.
