HENRY CO., Ohio (WTVG) – A man in Washington Township is facing charges of cruelty to companion animals after 80 dogs were found in his home living in unsanitary conditions.
Marty Eis, who is listed as a dog breeder on AKC Marketplace, was arrested after The Henry County Dog Warden and sheriffs office conducted a search at his home. An investigation is underway.
Neighbors say they have complained for almost 25 years about how Eis treats dogs. Making claims that this abuse has been going on for years.
“He’d go out and start yelling ”I told you to shut up”, and I watched him hit,” Eis’s neighbor, Debra Fuhr said.
“Very abusive. He threw dogs, kicked dogs, and they were just skin and bones when we seen them,” former neighbor Tammy Baker said.
Six puppies were also found dead at the home. An investigation conducted by the sheriffs office showed unsanitary conditions. The dogs were also stacked on top of each other in cages with viruses.
Neighbors said that the dogs would often roam and corner other residents on the street.
The dogs are now being taken care of by Henry County Humane Society and other rescues.
“I am just glad the dogs are where they need to be safe and sound, and i am glad he is where he needs to be,” Fuhr said.
Neighbors say Eis used to live in Napoleon before moving to the township. According to the Napoleon Municipal Court a person with the same name had dozens of confinement dog violations going back to as early as 1998.
Neighbors say with his arrest, they hope this is the end to the alleged animal cruelty.
“I’m just glad that this is finally over, and people can somewhat get back to hopefully a normal life around here,” Fuhr said.
This is a developing story. We will continue to update as more details come out from the ongoing investigation.
