A woman is in shock after receiving an angry message from the wife of a fellow dog walker.

Venting about the situation on the U.K.-based forum Mumsnet, the woman explained that she works four days a week but shares dog-walking responsibilities with her retired husband. She said that there is often a group of other people walking their dogs in the morning.

Among them is a man who “thinks it’s hilarious” to make jokes about her sleeping in and being lazy whenever her husband takes charge of exercising their canine. After two years of “ignoring” the man every time he poked fun, the woman admitted that she finally snapped.

“I work in a unit that deals with palliative care,” she said. “Yesterday was a bloody hard day, so this morning he said ‘it must be nice to laze about on a Sunday and send DH [dear husband] out.’ ”

“…I let him have it with both barrels — told him (in rough terms) what my day consisted of. I was up and out by 6 am. Long drive. The realities of my job,” she continued. “He was silent. Got home and his wife has WhatsApped to say I’ve upset him!”

The woman shared no regrets as she asked, “AIBU [am I being unreasonable] to think he deserves it?”

The majority of responses to the post attempted to reassure the woman that she behaved justly in the situation.

“Thank you. I was slightly worried that my menopausal rage had taken over,” the woman responded in the comment section. ”DH agrees with you all.” Referring to the dog walker’s wife, she added, “She has just put a message on the WhatsApp group #Be Kind. Oh the irony 🙄.”

Commenters were quick to share their words of advice on how she should handle the situation.

“I would definitely respond to her private chat saying that her husband had not been kind – for two years! – when he continually made sexist comments despite being politely told the truth and that he therefore deserved a reality check,” one person wrote. “Whether I then said something on the group chat would depend on my mood…”

Another chimed in, “He 100% deserved it and I would be telling them that in my reply,” one person commented. “Tell her you’ve had to listen to his s— for god knows how long and he needs to keep his weedy little sexist mouth shut.”

A third advised the woman to move on, writing, “I’d just ignore it all tbh [to be honest]. The guy won’t speak to you again now and won’t make his ‘funny jokes’ anymore. You’ve won.”
