GLENMORA, La. (KALB) – A Glenmora police officer and two other suspects have been arrested following an investigation into the shooting and killing of dogs, according to the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office.
RPSO said they learned of an animal cruelty complaint on May 25, about two house dogs that were killed and buried on May 21, involving someone with the Glenmora Police Department.
Detectives said the owner of the dogs was going to be away from home for an unknown amount of time. The owner asked a neighbor, Shyana Marie Bordelon, 47, to care for two small house dogs while they were away.
Bordelon and her son, Murray Joseph Gros, 26, tried to have Glenmora Animal Control remove the dogs from the home, but were denied. Animal Control said they did not see any reason to remove the dogs.
Bordelon and Gros then contacted the Glenmora Police Department. Officer Steven Ware, 33, responded to the home and told them they could shoot the dogs. When Bordelon and Gros said they did not have a gun, Officer Ware went back to GPD to get his personal rifle, which he gave to Gros.
Gros then allegedly shot and killed both dogs with the officer’s rifle and buried them. The rifle was returned to Officer Ware.
Following RPSO’s investigation, all three were arrested for their participation in the dogs’ deaths.

Gros was arrested on June 3 for two counts of aggravated cruelty to animals and one count of criminal conspiracy. He remains in the Rapides Parish Detention Center on a $7,500 bond.
Bordelon was arrested on June 4 for two counts of aggravated cruelty to animals and one count of criminal conspiracy. She also remains at the detention center on a $7,500 bond.
Officer Ware was arrested on June 3 for two counts of aggravated cruelty to animals, one count of malfeasance in office, one count of criminal conspiracy and one count of obstruction of justice. He was released on June 4 on a $12,500 bond.
