There are many great dog owners in Lubbock.
And many terrible, irresponsible owners who constantly ruin shared spaces for everyone.
The Dog OWNER Problem In Lubbock
Many people either do not know or choose to ignore the reality of their dog’s behavior. They allow their dog to do whatever it wants, wherever they are.

My dog is a rescue from the street. She is reactive to other dogs as a result. I know and understand this about her, which is why I do not take her to businesses that allow dogs.
I will take her to the park in a sturdy harness with a short, controllable leash. Far too often, someone is there with their dog off-leash (which is against city ordinance).
The other dog always runs up to my dog, and a lot of irritating barking happens. Luckily, my dog has never bitten another dog, but at least I wouldn’t be the liable party if that were to occur.
But what about an uncontrolled dog around a lot of people? That’s a recipe for disaster.

Until we can follow the rules and COMMON SENSE, perhaps Lubbock isn’t ready for dog-friendly spaces. And that’s 100% a people problem, not a dog problem.
