‘I’m disgusted’: Adams County residents outraged after more dogs found at troubled home

Residents in Adams County are expressing outrage and concern after learning that more dogs have been spotted at a home from which over 60 Chihuahuas were previously rescued.

Earlier this year, authorities removed the dogs from a feces-filled property along Old Harrisburg Road, leaving 12 dogs with the homeowner. Now, neighbors and the Adams County SPCA report seeing additional dogs and puppies in the yard.

“We were shocked two Fridays ago when we saw another dog out front of this house,” said the person who reported seeing a dog outside. They wished to remain anonymous.

The community is questioning the oversight of the property, with one neighbor expressing health concerns due to the state of the property. “There’s a case in February, but now here we are in June, so all of these months, who’s been tasked with the monitoring of the cleanup?” the neighbor said. “Living next-door, like, we have health concerns, especially if they stop piling trash again. We have instances where our cat has caught rats now, so health hazard is a concern.”

Lori Joy, who adopted two of the rescued Chihuahuas, shared her dismay over the situation. “These are just two of the 63 that were found and for them to be able to have more is disgusting,” Joy said.

The individual who initially reported seeing more dogs outside the house hopes for a change in how animal cruelty cases are handled in the area. “I’m disgusted by us having to drive by that house every day, twice a day, and something needs to be done in Adams County as far as checking up on these animals and allowing people to get more animals after they’ve been charged with animal cruelty,” they said.

While the SPCA declined to comment on camera, they have been active on social media, urging the public to contact local legislators and officials regarding the situation.

The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
