Texas charity gathers bags for domestic violence survivors’ legal aid campaign

The Texas Advocacy Project launched its annual campaign to collect bags for domestic violence survivors.

AUSTIN, Texas — A Texas organization is trying to collect thousands of purses, backpacks and diaper bags to give to people escaping domestic violence.

The Texas Advocacy Project launched its annual Handbags and Backpacks for Hope Campaign on Monday.

They are collecting new bags to give to shelters, hospitals and clinics across the state.

Inside each bag is a tag that will tell people how to get in contact with a free attorney from the Texas Advocacy Project so they can get away from their abuser.

“Be it a protective order, be it a divorce, be it custody, maybe just help getting out of their lease, maybe it’s access to crime victims compensation, but you’re going to need the support of an attorney to walk you through that, and in order to be able to get that court order and safety,” said Heather Bellino, CEO of Texas Advocacy Project.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
