A new Louisville bar serving hot dogs, oysters and nautical vibes is now open.

More than a year after setting sail as an occasional pop-up at The MerryWeather, 1101 Lydia St., YachtSea recently unveiled its own Butchertown digs.

YachtSea, named as a play on the dice-rolling game, opened on May 22 at 111 N. Wenzel St.

The concept comes from a pair of owners, including JC Denison, the co-owner of The MerryWeather in Germantown, and Leslee Macpherson, who previously served as the director of operations at Holly Hill in Lexington.

Together, they came up with an idea hoping to mix things up in Louisville, Denison previously told the Courier Journal.

“We fell in love with having that highbrow and lowbrow combination,” he said.

YachtSea’s menu feature oysters on the half shell and fancy hot dogs, including with ingredients such as papaya, french onions, or homemade beer cheese.

Boat drinks, including a house piña colada, are among the main attraction at the Butchertown bar.

“To me, it kind of encompasses a category of cocktails that is sort of frowned upon or people stick up their noses at,” Denison said. “These are the type of drinks you enjoy on vacation or on a boat, but they aren’t typically considered much or executed that well.”

At YachtSea, the “goal is to make them actually good.”

Rolling with the nautical theme, the space is decorated with photos of sailboats and ships atop wooden walls and has portholes as windows.

Yachtsea is open 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. Wednesday through Sunday.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
