People living in a small house survived a fire on Saturday, but the canine occupants did not fare so well.Albuquerque Fire Rescue personnel went to 1516 1/2 Broadway SE just after 12 p.m., where fire and smoke were showing on all sides of the single-family home. There was significant smoke and fire damage, but they had the fire under control within minutes, an AFR news release said.Although 17 dogs were removed from the house, only nine survived. Two occupants who did not want to be taken to the hospital said they were going to stay with family members. The fire was caused accidentally, the release said.No firefighters were injured.
