HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) — A ribbon cutting in North Myrtle Beach on Wednesday celebrated the first litter of future service dogs for combat veterans, active duty military, and law enforcement officers living with disabilities.
Up until now, joint task force K9s have given out 17 dogs. The founder is a veteran who spent 18 and a half years in the military. He spent 15 years of those as a special forces Green Beret.

“I had a suicide attempt on active duty. They medically retired me. Three years after I got out, I was still suicidal, worst place ever, and I received a dog from a local non-profit. It saved my life. This is the way that we believe God has given me a new mission,” said Keith Holland, Joint Task Force K9s.
The non-profit said they hope to break ground on a brick-and-mortar store by the end of the year.
