Salem’s late rally snaps Charleston’s six-game winning streak, ‘Dogs fall 4-2 at the Joe

Salem’s three-run eighth inning rally downed the RiverDogs Saturday night as the Red Sox won 4-2 in Charleston.

Salem got on the board in the first inning with a solo shot from Freili Encarnacion, the only run allowed by Charleston starter Jose Urbina.

The RiverDogs tied things up in the fourth as Larry Martinez drove in Angel Mateo on an RBI groundout.

In the bottom of the fifth, Charleston jumped ahead when Mateo was caught in a rundown on a pickoff throw to second base. In the pickle, Theo Gillen was able to dash home from third and avoid the tag from Salem catcher Andruw Musett to put the RiverDogs up 2-1.

The lead held until the eighth, which began with a walk and a single before back-to-back strikeouts for Charleston. Boston’s No. 6 prospect Yoeilin Cespedes stepped up with two outs and two on for Salem, dropping the ball into left field to drive in the tying run. Fraymi De Leon scored on a wild pitch shortly after and put the Red Sox up 3-2 before Cespedes scored on another wild pitch to make the final 4-2.

Over 6,200 fans were in attendance at Joseph P. Riley Jr. Park for the first Boeing Military Appreciation Night of the season.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
