JACKSON, MI — The Jackson County Animal Shelter, 3770 Spring Arbor Road, has many pets available for adoption.
Here are two of them.
Calla is a 4-year-old American Staffordshire mix who is solid black with some white on her chest.
She is a medium-sized dog at 48 pounds. Calla is not a barker or jumper. Upon meeting she can be shy and a bit nervous, but once she sees that you are friendly she becomes a tail wagger.
Calla likes to play outside and gets the happy zoomies. An experienced dog owner would be best to help socialize Calla and take away some of her worries.
Gemma is a 1-year-old tabby cat with lots of white markings. She has beautiful, huge green eyes and the sweetest temperament.
Gemma had kittens and they have been adopted. Now this sweet mama is looking for her forever home. She is friendly to everyone and likes to be held and petted.
Gemma gets along well with the other cats and would be a wonderful addition to your home
Dog adoptions require an application, online. A meet-and-greet with a dog also is mandatory. A cat room walk-through is available to test reaction. The dog adoption fee is $150 for medium and large dogs and $250 for puppies and small dogs, which includes vaccinations, microchip and sterilization.
Cat adoption fees are $60 for one cat, $80 for two, which includes applicable tests, vaccinations and spay/neutering.
Visiting the shelter is always best, but other adoption resources include online applications at https://www.co.jackson.mi.us/2302/Our-Adoptable-Animals, faxing 517-780-4750 or emailing animalshelter@mijackson.org.
