Louisville organization offers free eye exams for service dogs

“This is a way to give back to the community, a way to give back to these dogs that help us.”

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Bluegrass Veterinary Vision offered free annual service dog eye exams on Friday.

Every May, the organization works with Epicur Pharma to provide the complimentary screenings. The groups says it’s an honor to help make sure these working dogs are in top eye health so they can keep assisting their owners.

“This is a way to give back to the community, a way to give back to these dogs that help us,” Erica Tolar, a vet ophthalmologist, said. “There’s guide dogs, search and rescue dogs, police dogs — all kinds. It’s our way to give back.”

Each year Bluegrass says they have a great turnout and they’re more than happy to keep the annual service going.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
