Savvy investors are turning luxury handbags into instant profits, with Hermès bags generating thousands in resale value just minutes after purchase.
James Constantinou, owner of Prestige Pawn and Channel 4-star, reports record sales as traders and collectors capitalise on the soaring demand for these highly coveted accessories.
One customer secured a £7,500 profit within hours of purchasing a £12,500 Hermès handbag.
Now, Prestige Pawn is set to sell the exclusive item for over £20,000 nearly doubling its value in just 24 hours.
James Constantinou explained: “Customers understand the demand for these sought-after bags and are using their market knowledge to generate substantial returns.
“While many may not have the means to readily spend over £10,000, they recognise the immediate resale potential, which is why they bring these pristine items to us. One buyer literally walked it down the street after picking it up.”
Hermès handbags are notoriously difficult to acquire, with the most sought-after pieces available only through an exclusive ‘wish list’ system.
As a result, many buyers accept bags they don’t necessarily want or can’t afford, simply to resell them for a significant profit.
“Many of our clients rely on us to source rare and unobtainable pieces,” said AnnaGrace, Prestige Pawn’s resident bag expert.
“We have a reputation as the go-to experts for locating exclusive Hermès bags, often selling them above their original retail price.”

Hermes Crocodile Birkin 30 purchased by a dealer from Hong Kong for 25k requiring nothing more than a spring clean and the missing lock which was sourced from Hermes. The bag was eventually re sold at auction 6 months later where it made 40k. Currently retailing new at Hermes for 45k if a client can be offered one.
Hermes Kelly Touch recently sourced new directly from store for 12.5k and then purchased from the dealer by us for 20k for a private client who had been actively searching for the bag in this hardware and colour combination for 6 months.
Hermes Birkin 25 again purchased straight from store and then re sold to us for 7k above list price. The bag sold within 24hrs on their private client listing data base.
Hermes Mini Kelly Ostrich sold to a collector for 20k which is 9k above the current list price.
